Like a bolt of lightning the mosque lit up like a Christmas tree and exploded in a fiery blaze of hell. It was a mosque in the Al-Yarmouk neighbourhood of central Gaza City. Can you UNSEE the destruction? You cannot but you can desensitise yourself from the horror under the cloak of claiming the status of being part of the God’s Chosen People. In that prism of thought, all other peoples are Amalekites. The Amalekites are portrayed in the Hebrew Bible as a roaming people from the Negev region who became persistent foes of the Israelites. Their story is marked by an early assault on the exhausted Israelite community after the Exodus, followed by generations of recurring clashes. Over time, they came to embody the enduring symbol of a hostile force set against the Jewish nation. Today, a people who have always being inhabitants of Palestine are subjected to the worst of atrocities and ironically, they appear as exhausted ‘Israelites’ ravaged by ‘Amalekites’ of the 20th and 21st century.
Stated another way is that the Israelites of today fashion their occupation on the violent assault their forefathers experienced under the aggression of the Amalekites on the Palestinians. In doing so they have the support of more than fifty countries. You will not see this perspective if your worldview is shaped by the ‘Genesis of the Fourth Crusade’ to borrow a title from Abid Ullah Jhan in expressing the trapped mindset of a Eugenic. It said plainly, “You are racist.”

Can You UNSEE this?
Impossible. The moment of impact explodes so many ‘truths’ held in my mind about the ‘west’ who drummed into my head from kindergarten that they were the bastions of justice. When I replayed this over and over again, I imagined the time, effort and the hundreds of people that were attached to the mosque and what they felt. I could actually ‘see’ their pain. The images of people were the thousands of faces that emblazoned social media feeds on the genocide in Gaza and it dawned upon me that those people will never forget because they will never UNSEE the horror. In their history they will pass it on to their generations and they will feel the gore of the pariahs and call them Amalekites.These will be the revisionists — scholars committed to restoring historical truth. The colonial narratives we have long relied on have grown stale and increasingly unconvincing. In fact, many are re‑examining the record, probing deeper, and confirming that numerous events were embellished or even fictionalised for propagandist effect. Indoctrination was the weapon; critical inquiry is now the antidote.

I was left appalled and grateful indeed that the late Muhammad Ali’s star of fame is not the floor but on the wall as he wanted it. Today, the very role models we held on pedestals of fame and glory are under a siege of human faeces as homelessness increases exponentially. The land of wine, honey and gold is siphoned of it riches to support the state of Israel. Not only that, more and more USA citizens are joining the IOF in Occupied Palestine to give their life for a cause they don’t fully understand hence, they have been bruised but have only their eyes exposed to absorb all the lies as truth. Take a look at this brief clip – You cannot UNSEE the bias. Imagine if you took a flight to the USA, settled in with the army and participated in killing people and rid them of their land.
When WEDDINGS become the playground of Prejudice
Israeli wedding erupts into a craze of chants for the killing of Palestinians as gun-brandishing masked men dance to biblical revenge song, ‘We will wipe out the Amalekites around us…May their names be erased.’ Can you UNSEE this?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“When trusts are betrayed, then wait for the Day of Judgment.” The companions asked, “How are trusts betrayed?” He replied, “When affairs are entrusted to those who are not qualified, then wait for the Day of Judgment.” (HR Bukhari)
This shows that corrupt leadership is one of the signs of the approaching Day of Judgment.
We are living in age close to the preceding days of Hour. Let us be of those who will the see the light before we close our eyes to see more.
